sony lens question

hi, ive got a sony a200 with the standard kit lens and whilst its ok for close up shots, but im wanting another lens to take decent distant shots. I know i can get old lens' on ebay by other makes that work with mine but im wanting to know whats a good lens to look out for that kind of shot? im not looking for something professonal as im only learning but i want something that is perfect for shots of countryside etc?

any ideas?

It all depends on how much zoom you are after, I would suggest a 70-300mm would be a good starting point.

What sort of budget do you have ?

I have had the tamron since december and for the price I cannot complain, I have just picked up a Sigma 170 - 500mm today in time for the Farnborough airshow :D for £285 and its superb, I am using them on an A200.

I have an A200 and bought a Sigma 70-300 lens for it a few months back.
Its brilliant, got it off ebay for £90 and its like new.

As mentioned, its not the sort of lens for landscape images but for depth of field shots its fantastic.
I'm still new to using DSLR's and its improved my shots and knowledge so much
