sorry, wasn't sure what section to put this in.

i have a car that has been off the road for over a year, last year when the tax was running out i filled out a SORN, so i did not have to renew my road tax as the car wasn't been used.

now firstly i wasn't aware that if you declared a car off the road, you had to tel the dvla it was still off the road each year, i received no reminder like you normally would.

Today i have received a letter asking me to pay the "reduced" penalty of £40.00 as well as arrears of £19.17.

Where do i stand on this? I wasn't aware it had to be renewed. no reminder was sent.

I'm guessing i don't have a hope in hell right?

Say you sent a new SORN declaration off weeks ago and must be lost in the post. It worked for me.

ah rite so if i just send that in now then argue that i will get off with it?

i just find it silly when there is people driving with no tax, insurance, MOT etc yet i have already declared it off the road, its not going anywhere and they have not reminded me at all. and face it, if you dont use a car at all its hard to remember
