SORNing a car without v5

Evening guys, As some of you know im new to the forum, so please move if this is in the wrong section!

Recently bought a clio 172, tax runs out tomorrow and I am waiting for the v5 to come through the post.

Basically, without the number on the v5 form, how do i go about sorning it?! Obviously dont want to get fined for not taxing or declaring sorn.

I've tried ringing up my company who insure my currently, and they want an extra £300 for 25 days insurance! Told them where to go seeing as i've already paid £240 this month for my peugeot!

should be on the green slip. if you haven't got it don't panic as long as you get it done through the month you'll be fine.

Hi mate, I have the green slip, may be a stupid question, any idea where on the green slip it should be? Says i can just take it into a post office, and do it that way, can you declare sorn at a post office? Thanks.

under the new keepers details box, "doc. ref. no." will be grouped 1234 123 1234

Just tried, the digit on the green slip marked 'doc-ref-no' is 12 digits long, should only be 11?!

Post office do a form think you need vin number etc but can do it without v5

Cheers mate, Rang DVLA up yesterday, and they said about having two weeks to sort it, aslong as the car is off the road.
