sound system

  Clio mk1 1.2
nice head unit, front speakers in doorcards isntead of in vents on dashboard, one or two subs in box with amp on the boot floor, 6x9s in parcel shelf wired up to an amp

  Monaro VXR
And for recommending that to him your getting a slap! :)

He said not a boot full of ice for a start. And you recommended 6x9's amped on parcel shelf talk about awful positioning.

Decent headunit is needed generally most of us on here seem to favour the Alpine units the higher end ones anyways. Then components nice set of rainbow components up front they will fit into the factory locations if you wanna keep it looking standard.

Then since you dont want a boot full of ice id say either a small 8" or 10" sub in the boot with an amp and another small amp for the components up front would sound lovely. You do not need rear speakers when your in the front of the car. I cant hear my rears at all over my front speakers so i generally have them turned off until i have passengers in the car.

if you want nothing in your boot at all get a good headunit, Alpine, Becker Nak et. A good pair of components with a powerful stereo amp will give you lots of mid bass and a great sound

Igfnore the 6x9s are good advice :jesusno:

  RB 200 Cup!
yep - do not get 6 x 9's - shite IMO

basically like muzz said good head unit and some uprated components will sort you out a treat

  Clio mk1 1.2
i only got 6x9s in my car coz they were free from max power and no the amp wouldnt b on parcel shelf

IMO i would go for Pioneer over Alpine, Had a high endish Apline and sold it to get a Pioneer and i thought it was a lot better. Can see why some may favour the Alpine. Head Unit would be the first on ur tick list that'll make a difference on its own!

  Megane 225 Cup
I would suggest getting a good headunit, something apline or panansonic, upgarding your 13cm components to something like rainbow comps or alpine type r's.

If u want clear audio with bass id then get a 10" sub for the boot.

Dont make my mistake and get 6x9's

They are S**te with a capital S.

Why not fade them out so theyre balanced with the front end? My pioneer has a sound staging setting which basically enhances all the sounds from all the speakers so the best sound is in the front. Pretty good.
I've had it over a year and only found out about it the other day when I read the instructions LOL.

Don't wanna start a debate, but 6 x 9s are ideal for people wanting some bass without using a sub, My JBLs are pretty good. I used to have a 2 grand set up in my XR3I about 8 years, don't get me wrong it was wicked, however if I kit the boot out like that again I don't think the 15 month old daughter will appreciate it, LOL

  A well built VW
First mod has to be a good HU
Then some quality comps
If you wanna keep it standard then replace the rear and then amp the whole thing
You will notice a difference but if you like a bit of BASS then a small sub from focal (5") could be squeezed in or one of those sub boxes that fit snuggly at the side of the boot wpuld do the job

  Polo + Micra
the only 6x9's i'd recommend are the ones that are basicly subs in a 6x9 shape ALL others are sh*t.

get a good hu (i'd recommend alpine as burr brown dac's mean f**k all now owned by TI)

nice set of comps(rainbow slc230 kick's or the slx230 deluxe?) up front running from a decent amp (Steg Masterstroke MSK-50SC maybe?:clown:) nah some thing with about 100wRMS @ 4 ohms would be a nice start

Genesis do a 6x9 shape sub which is ideal, you can run 2 at 2 ohm really easily and box them in below your shelf. This is cost effective.

  Monaro VXR
Have seen them saw the kenwood ones which come with a small amp i was actually quite surprised at them they didnt sound too bad.
