sp 60 from my old car.

Got a warickshire police letter yesterday morning saying i had been doing 69mph in a 60 zone.Sold the car 2 weeks ago now and am trying to contact the owner as we speak.I take it the DVLA are draging there arses again in switching over ownership.
This must waste so much time waiting around to find the right driver and all that.
Hope i get a decent response from the new owner and get it sorted soon

If you where not driving I would not even be worrying about it. DVLA cover themselevs by saying a chnage of owners details and to send out V5's can take a month, send the bits back to the police saying not driving, sold on xx/xx/2006.

I had the same when I sold my MG.. Few weeks later I got a reminder for road tax!!! Wrote a letter to DVLA saying I sold the car and gave them the name and date.. never heard anything again...

Hope you get it sorted mate .. just complete the NIP and say it was not you driving and leave them to sort it out .. they are usually very quick with the ownership transfer for this said reason but there must be a delay in the system at the mo ..

69, thats a bit harsh! They got my mrs a few weeks ago on a road that has been 60 since we lived here and her ticket was for 64mph. I was gonna start kicking off saying the 10% rule for inaccurate speedos and all that when we found out they had changed the speed limit to 40mph that week. Crafty f*****s, theyre like parasites, fair enough if she had been doing 80 or something, but they knew the limit had just been changed and they sat waiting to top up theyre xmas bonus getting people who obviously didnt know! Not happy cause it puts the insurance up £100 next year even with an extra years no claims!

I think there should be consistency with police forces where they can offer the speed awareness course and the fine instead of points and the fine.. I would have much rather done the course than take 3 points but I wasn't offered it .. iirc only some forces offer it

my dad got pulled for speeding and they offered him to go on a course or take the points,which he obviously he took the course, he said all they did in the course was show them pics of wot happens when people speed. there offering it alot in bristol at the mo! id take the course rather than points!

I am enjoying the car but i wasnt "having a thrash about" when i was filmed, i was on the way to work in the overtaking lane to a crawler lane which after about 400 yards merged to 1 lane, so i sped up to get into a spot where it was safe before the lanes merged, the mobile camera van was at the top of the hill just after the lanes merged, not happy whatsoever, id question the legality of placing a camera at the top of a hill on a crawler lane but might get me in more trouble than just accepting the points or hopefully taking the course. fair enough if i was doing 70+ but 9mph over on a lane created to overtake slower vehicles is a rediculous.
