space saver

I've got a big drive up to Cumbria and back in July (circa 350 miles each way) and I was thinking it wouldn't hurt to take a space saver with me just in case (along with the usual can of tyre gunk)

Has anyone done this, and can recommend one that will fit/clear brakes?

Seen a few on the 'bay but unsure on clearances/offsets etc?

I'm gonna have a boot full of luggage as it is, hence trying to save some space

I'm pretty sure Mazda an Volkswagen have different Pcd, bore sizes etc.

your best bet is looking for a Renault wheel, if its a four hole one it will fit yours.

plus 14" wouldn't fit over the calipers, so I'm told?

I reckon you'll be fine with tyre gunk alone. 700 motorway miles isn't a huge amount, do you have breakdown cover?

I've got a 15" steely in Renault fittment if your interested, not as small as a space saver but might be of use to you...
