Spare tyre on the continent

  172 Cup

Ive took the cup over to France before but I was just planning another trip when someone said that I legally had to take a spare tyre with me even if it meant carrying it in the boot.

Is this correct?

They sell the 182 over there so Id be surprised if it was a legal requirement. When we went over there we looked into what we needed to take and there was no mention of a spare. Bulbs, warning triangle etc.

nope, spare isnt required legally, same as this country, not requierd, but if it is carried, then it needs to be legal

Fine mate, its me thats been absent for 2 months hence the "long time..........."

Moved into Walsall. Own apartment, big mortgage etc... No money to spend on daft things like replacing my bald tyres :(

im not doubting for one minute what she says

but in the driving abroad leaflets you get, it doesnt say that you require a spare as a legal requirement

plus in france they sold the clio ps2 and ragnotti, neither or which have a spare as standard

thats what she said when I had mentioned that the 182 has no spare tyre... but she probably means that its illegal in the same way that speeding is illegal...

LOL lo mate,

Im in the new apartments just behind the Toby carvery on the Broadway if you know it. For some reason Direct Line gave me £80 back on my policy as they said it was "such a nice area". Think someones made a mistake somewhere!

Still upset about the Saxo comment then.............Oh well never mind hey. ;)

not really - i know its a web forum, people opinions on here mean s**t all in reality

however its the generalisation that pisses me off, why should everyone be tarnished with the same brush??

Legally No spare required on the continent but if you have one it must be legal. Personally I wouldnt drive in europe without a spare tyre just in case, even if its just the tyre itself in the boot. Its easy to get it fitted to the rim but not so easy to order a new tyre if youre on a trip.....

The unfortunate part, and please for god sake do not take any form of offence, the general age that buy Saxo’s, 1.6 rsi’s, Escort’s – in fact any quite quick car that you can modify at a reasonable early age – there is a majority who ruin in for the others. Outsiders only tend to remember the bad things – this could be a wheel spin from a garage, or driving up the high street like a moron. May be I was incorrect to place certain wordings in the original statement but I was young to, I had ( and please no one laugh – I had a very troubled childhood) a 2CV – The usual loud exhaust / open intake filter etc and wheel spun it everywhere. It got me no where except the neighbours wanting to punch my lights out, becoming a police magnet and on several times being refused a sale for petrol a garage due to my pulling up techniques etc. I hope no offence has been taken and also hope this may explain a millimetre of what was trying to be explained. Anyway were getting off topic and one of those moderators will have a go at me.
