Spark Plug Problem

  Clio 1.2 16V
I am trying to change spark plugs in my 1.2 16V clio, D4F engine. I have bought replacement plugs and have the right size socket but it won't fit down where the HT leads normally are. Is there any way to remove the sleeve in order to fit the socket?

Sure it's the right socket? Must be a slim 14mm long socket with a 3/8" drive.

EDIT: Is some rubber "ring" from the coil plugs sitting on the spark plugs?

I had the same problem on my D4F engine! I have about 100 sockets and not one would fit :( got so annoyed i ended up taking it to my mate who works at a garage!

I am using a 10mm spark plug socket which fit the new spark plugs fine but won't fit down to the spark plugs currently in the car. Did I get the wrong spark plugs? Halfords said they were the right ones for the car. :S There's no rubber ring sitting on the spark plugs.
