Spax rsx rear shock banging

  172 cup track toy
Any body had any issues with spax rsx coilovers knocking or banging really bad on the back, my osr has developed a real bad noise after bing cornor weighted

  Lionel Richie
there are issues apparently, feel free to bring it back to me for a check over, it may just be "nature of the beast" so to speak, bit of an arse to travel back my way but the offer's there (no charge)

I had to have the offside damper replaced as it was shot. Fluid leaking out the top and once removed, you could push/pull the gas strut with ease.

Hopefully just a faulty batch or something :dapprove:

That doesn't sound good. How old was it before it failed?

I for one would be interested to hear Fred's impartial feedback if the OP decides to take it back for him to have a look at.

:)

Ive personally seen a couple of issues now and there have been lots more mentioned on here.

Thats balanced by some people who havent had a problem though, so seems to be a bit of a lottery.

Cheers for the offer Fred appreciate that, had the car on the ramp & everything is definetly tight, had a bar in all bushes and they all ok, no play or movement in anything, I've been driven in the road with myself in the boot area and the mouse is definetly coming from the drivers rear shock area, not just a bit of a knock but a real Lou d banging noise, if anybody's ever driven a 206 with knocked axle or radius arm then that's the noise I'm getting

Does it on mine,
Everything is tight,
Had them off, look brand new, no rust or anything anywhere.
All adjusters are free moving!
Doesn't do it all the time either. Very intermittent!
Think they're are just a very unrefined unit!
If you find anything though let me know please,
It is a pain in de ass

I think its been explained a few times now where if you have the rear coilover its the spring moving about and not an issue.

If its not the rear coilover then I'm not sure.

Mines sat pretty low on the back now, as a possible fix for this, and hasn't helped it!
Going to need to raise it again as scrubbing on the back now!

Seems way to loud to be spring movement, every time you go over a bump or pothole there's a Loud knock/bang coming from inside the rear arch, the other side is perfectly quiet so spring noise doesn't make sense to me.

This was my thinking to, sounds like it about to come through into the boot from the top mount.
But again no problems there!

Yes that's exactly what it sounds like, ive sat sat in the boot when it does it & it's very loud but perfect on the other side

Sounds like what mine is doing.
I would describe it as harshness on high frequency bumps, not low freq.
I have adjusted the top nuts so the rubber can move a bit more than before.....(not too loose) and it seems a bit better.

That sucks, must be low to rub! ha

my b*****d rubs on Sportlines, that said i'v got 16mm spacers on the rear as the NS was rubbing the plastic inner arch so fitted spacers and now the O/S hits the arch and scrapes the outer sidewall, very annoying lol

Luckily mine don't catch at all, just making this horrible noise, got Caldwell booked in 2 weeks as well so don't know what to do?....

There was a thread about the rears seizing/rusting up - but it got removed as Sir_Dave said

The general feedback from Spax/re-sellers was that this is a race setup so stop winging :(

Not got any rusting or seizing probs at all just the noise, they've done less then 600-700 miles from new

I would be contacting the retailer you purchased these from, and see what comes of it.

They're we're bought by previous owner off the car, from a group buy on here I think

my just squeeks like a tw5t. over the slightest bit of a bump, no knocking/banging. but i know just what you mean, i had vmaxx a good few yr ago on the BG and the rears drove me facking mental+ knocking+bang+clang.

gonna whip the spax rears off as soon as i get mi hands on a new compressor in a week or so.Just so i can give them a clean up/over haul.

I have the same problem with 1 of my rear coilover dampers, They're covered under a 2 year warranty. I have the original receipt showing they're a year old and between SPAX and K Tec Racing (purchased from them by the previous owner) the pair of them will be sorted free of charge.

  A special one.
And this is why I got rid of mine.

Hope you get it sorted though chaps. :)

Gonna put some lowering springs on the back, with new oem dampers, just trying to work out what springs to buy, as it sits pretty low atm. And I'd like to keep the stance of the BG.
