Speaker upgrade !!!

  ATS CUP'd Dynamique
I have had my 1.2 dynamique for a year now and after listening to music with the standard speakers for that time i am definately ready to upgrade them for some better quality ones!!! :p

I dont want to spend much and would like to replace the 2 tweeters on the dash, the 2 front speakers and the 2 rear speakers.. what size speaker do i need for them to fit in the door cards without having to alter the trim and are there any you would recomend

thanks tom

around £40-60...... i know its not much but hopefully there is something out there

I wouldn't mind not replacing the tweeters if someone found some good quality speakers for that money

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
for that id just get a set of components and leave the rears, have u still got the standard renault head unit?

Fair enough, if u get upgraded speakers with ur standard HU, you wont get much more performance out of the speakers. imo upgrade the head unit 1st, then upgrade your speakers.

i dont want to sound like a dumb-arse but im new to ICE ( makes me sound so old :p ) and was wondering : how does a new headunit improve the performance of the speakers and the general sound ????

  172
headunit is what provides the sound output signal, the better the signal originally the better the quality from the speaker
listen to a car with standard audio, change the headunit for an aftermarket one then listen to a standard radio with aftermarket speakers

  Audi A3 TDI 170 B.E.
Because the power output to the speakers is more and sound quality is improved.

The standard headunit is about 20 watts per channel where as newer headunit start from 45 - 60 watts per channel.

would it sound alright without an upgraded HU though as i dont have the money for one yet ?

surely it would sound better than standard HU with standard speakers !!!!

Totaly agree there
A few people on here have actualy found that when they upgraded their speakers first, but the standard HU wasn't powerful enough to produce the sound quality, therefore causing distortion and "clipping".

My first mod on my car from new was a JVC HU (bad idea)
The sounds were great, just a real bugger of a HU & manual with a complicated menu thrown on top to p*ss you off :(

it will be a minimal difference, tbh if your looking to spend 40-60 on speakers you only need to save another 20 quid or so to get a good unit with a few extras off caraudiodirect or caraudiosecurity

an example

What he says ^
Although you can pick up a better HU for the same money ;)

Avoid these IMHO
JVC
Kenwood
Fli
Sony
Parrot
Panasonic

Definately go for the HU first, u might find after that, that u can bare with the standard speakers for a bit longer. As the guy's have said though the HU is the all important bit of the stereo system :)

Keep looking around for a HU though as there are loads within close range of your budget that should do exactly what your looking for. As for choice, i personally go for JVC but that just a preference thing.
