Spec me a steering wheel

Car  Ph2 Clio 172
So, whats a decent after market wheel?

I want a flat one as I think dished would be to close. I like suede more than leather, but the fact they go shiny might annoy me? Whats a good size (also, how big is the standard wheel, 380mm?)?

Cheers

Ive got this sabelt one (which is 320mm iirc) and its a beaut, such a fantastic wheel:

Only down side is if you want it to staying looking mint you will need a second wheel lol

Ho long until the suede wheels start to go shiny? I don't drive my car on the road much. I think I've done about 5000 miles in the last 12 months.

I've had mine fitted for a couple of months now and I'm the same as you I do about 5000 mile a year and the suede is still fine.

Yeah if you take care of it and dont use your car much like you have said then it should stay in decent nick for a while. I was just a wh*re and bought a second wheel lol

Hmm... seem rare and expensive, and doesn't have a centre horn. Lots of effort and expense to get one.

Any other suggestions? Anything like the Sabelt from OMP or Sparco or the likes that has a horn?

I have a Sabelt, fantastic wheel!
As mentioned, you do loose the horn but I just bought a Ph1 indicator stalk.
I'll swap my wheel for you Recaros Dan? haha

Hmm, ok. But still means finding the rare and overpriced Sabelt wheel.

Toast, is that wheel not uber small?

(I am right in thinking the standard wheel is 380mm, right?)

Only if you've big hands.......lol

Joking aside I thought that when I first got it...but on track it's actually a really good size\comfortable and I don't even find myself crossing my hands (thought that would be a problem as it's small). Thumb grips are good, I got leather as it'll stay fresh looking all the time. Not the type to brush my wheel.......cheap price too. Horn button comes with it.

If you buy from somwhere like tweeks, you can try, re-box and send back if you don't like it.

I'm thinking about 320mm as I do have big hands (ooo errr). I don't think I do enough miles to worry about suede going shiny, and it would mean I could move away from needing to use gloves on track.

But the over all decider would be price. If leather is cheaper then I will go for that.

Ideally I need to find a shop that sells them and has them all on display so I can haver a look and a feel, as there are so many to choose from, all subtly different.

Does anyone have one of the RMD wheels? I have heard they are perfectly good as a wheel (i.e. not flimsy like some of the fakes) and there are a couple of decent looking 320mm ones.

If you hold the top of the rim it will flex without to much effort , but as said I've not noticed it whilst throwing it around !
