SPL Amps

Just wondering about the quality of teh SPL amps, they are VERY cheap for what they are, they do a 4x200w for £110, everywhere else i have seen amps that are 4x100 for that price.

I realise that these values are prolly max rather than RMS, anyone tell me the quality of these amps and the RMS values of the 4 chennel amps (SPLA800, SPLA1000). These are from motorworld btw.

SPL amps are a very very poor quality amp, never meet their ststed power figured when on a test bench, and the quality is far from adequate

splx - sh*t. - thats the only word im prepaired to say in the same sentence as splx!!

But if your talking about spl dynamics - there good - but not cheap.

A good rule i was told - get the most expensive mp you can with the lowest rating!!!

i have used an SPLX 1000watt amp to power 2x JBL GT3-12 sounded f**king mint until it got nicked... so now i have a kenwood 150watt thing and it powers 1 of the subs better than 500watt from the splx...will never go back to em..

fact is the vast majority of people who think SPLx stuff is sh*te have never used it before, a lot have never even heard a system with it in before

it IS cheap stuff, and its obviously not gonna blow you away, but for the money it really is ok.........

ive heard a few up since i started workin at Motor World and we have even got one rigged up in the shop, and they do have a reputation for bein crap, but for the money your spendin you really cant moan at the quality, cos to get somethin better will cost at least double usually.......

oh and as said above they ARE max rated and definitely not RMS.....

the RMS figures are not printed on the box so i havent got a clue what they are

ive got an alpine headunit, alpine sub, 2 alpine amps, and alpine 6x9;s

an i love it.......sound quality is superb....

not got it all rigged up properly yet tho

alpine HU are GREAT!!! i love them! there amps are really quite good for the money as well. Although there speaers and subs are good - they are not great - and IMHO better can be found for the money - thats personal taste tho
