Split fuel line....

  RB FF 182
Ok, so all of a sudden on the way to a meeting this afternoon there's a MASSIVE smell of fuel in the cockpit. I'm driving behold some battered old Fiat so I figure that it's them... it gets so bad that I nearly tried to get them to pull over because there was clearly a fuel leak.

It was pretty clear as when I pulled over to investigate there was a massive puddle of what I initially thought was oil on the floor. However, upon further investigation it turned out to be fuel.

Turned out it was me...

After a few minutes we had the engine cover off, and the AA chap noticed that the fuel line had been zip tied to the injector rail as the o-ring had snapped at some point. We then realised that the fuel line had been re-fitted at some point OVER the engine. This had cause it to stretch and rub on a heat shield behind the engine and had formed a little 'nick' in the line. The fuel line is clearly too short so something has happened during the life of the car which has caused someone to mess about with it.

I'm going to call a specialist tomorrow and get a new fuel line fitted. I guess all I'm asking is how much you guys think it will cost, and secondly if anyone can show me a diagram of how it SHOULD be fitted so I know that it's been done right this time.

Thanks guys!
