spraying my side strips

hi guys,
i want to colour code my side strips but dont want the bobbly texture on the side do i have to sand them down or is there a primer i could use that would smooth them off?

was thinking of wrapping them, have a black car so could carbon wrap them i've got the stuff coming out my ear holes lol

Do the side strips just pop off (clips)?
Or do you have to do something special to get them off?

Slide the door ones towards the rear and the rear ones towards the door.

Will need door open to do it
