Spraying rear drums

  Clio Dynamique Noir
Just got myself some new alloys and all you can see is rusted drums behind the rears so wanted to spray them black or something. Anyone got any tips for spraying them please? Thanks

Give them a thorough sanding to get rid of the rusty texture and then a good few coats of Hammerite.

Take the wheels off first, and use paint

Thanks for that! I was really stuck on what to do!ha

Metal scourer/brush best bet like said ^

And please don't paint them yellow.

do them black .. not red

Dont worry I never had any plans to paint them yellow or red just want to get rid of the rust and spray them black...Cheers for the help, ill have a look on halfrauds now!

Just looked on Halfrauds and they sell a few different hammereite black paint finishes

Hammereite Hammered Finish BlackHammerite Satin Finish BlackHammerite Smooth Finish Black

Which one do I want, are they just different finishes?

As said get the smooth finish, same one i used. Settles really well. Just remember to let it dry before putting your alloys onto the drums ;)

Cheers for the help guys...so just sand all the rust off with a wire brush, then how many coats dyu think i should give it? I dont mind masking so I was going to use the aerosol version, do they both give the same finish?

think slapping it on with a paint brush is easier. Gives a thicker coat as well. More durable the hammerite stuff. think i put 2 coats on.

Hammereite sell one that you can 'paint' on and then they sell it in an aerosol can aswell. Ill buy the tinned stuff during the week and put it on at the weekend and whack some pictures up let you know how it went! Cheers for the help!
