sqeeky suspension noise? metal with wet rubber?

i have come across a strange noise today, sounds like its from top struts? as title like wet rubber on metal when i hit bigger bumps? i heard it a couple of times since owning the car but now its when i hit a fair bump in the road. can apex springs break? car still sits level? please can someone help, want to be sure its safe or not. when its light tomorrow i will try take a look. could it even be worn wishbones?
