squeaking noise from centre of car (front end )?

anyone any ideas ? iv got a squeaking noise that sounds like its coming from the centre of the car on the front end .. could it be the exhaust where the cat joins to the manifold ?does it all the time .. its a similar noise to a squeaking living room door handle if that helps ..cheers ..
