Squeaking when turning left?

a friend of mine has just bought a 1.9d clio L reg. his getting a constant squeak when turning left at around 20mph. as soon as he starts to turn to straighten up the squeking stops. anyone know whats the problem and how it could be fixed?

Could be a worn differenetial.
