Squeaky clutch

Hi Everyone,

Over the past month my clutch pedal has started squeaking and feels like it is getting stiffer/harder (ooh er) to press!

It was serviced at a local garage the other week and I asked them to grease/oil it but it is exactley the same. I suppose they may not have done it but they have always been good in the past. Could this be anything else ?? ie could my clutch be going!? :S

Its a 172 cup by the way - any advice greatly appreciated.

Get some GT85 lube and spray loads of it at the pedal and through the hole then spray loads at the point where it comes out of its casing at the gearbox

^^^^ As above mine was the same and i gave it a good blast of wd40 at the pedal and the gearbox and it helped for a while. Tends to come back though expecially in the summer months when things get warm.
It doesnt help as the cable takes the worlds longest route from pedal to gearbox......:evil:

mines doing this too - tempted to take it dealer (again) but then they would probably only grease it so may as well do it myself!

after greasing and greasing I finally took the car to renault today and was told that the clutch cable needs replacing so hopefully shall be gone tomorrow but we shall see!

Bad news for you: my 127 phase1 does the same, and I've already replaced not only the cable but the whole clutch set, and it REMAINED THE SAME. I really have no clues what the problem could be.

Moreover I have the same symptom with the accelerator pedal... I tend to think that the problem is A) with the pedals B) somewhere where the cables pass through the car-body.

Let me know if your dealer solves the problem!

and is it definately the cable then edde?

doesnt make much sense to me as I have been greasiong it and solving the problem temporarily so in my eyes the squeak is coming from pedal assembly but we shall see

picked the car up - they got grease all over my £120 mats, and doors and dashboard, as well as damaging my battery cover, denting my air filter, scratched my polished plenham and got grease all over the bay but other than those annoying problems my clutch pedal is now smoother than when it was new!
They replaced the clutch cable and all the metal bits attached to it where it meets the gear box and also greased all the pedal assembly with some weird sticky white stuff but it has done the trick - am well pleased - should have had it done ages ago!

My warranty runs out next month so glad its all sorted
