Squeaky noise when turning wheels

  Liquid Yellow R27
I've recently noticed a squeaky noise when turning the wheels of my Clio 182. It's worse when on full lock and it doesn't feel right from the steering wheel either. It only seems to make the sound when stationary or turning into a tight corner at slow speeds. I've included a video below to show the sound it's making...

Is this something to worry about? My mate said it sounds like the belt or the pump, but I have no idea. I'm not very clued up under the bonnet. Any advice on what this could be or how to fix it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

Had exact same problem with mine, I sorted it yesterday.
It is indeed the sound of a slipping aux belt, the reason being on mine was the tensioner pivoting bearing was siezed. Had to fit a new aux belt kit.

Rather annoying as I fitted a new aux belt kit back in late 2011, I'm wondering if I can send this back to Renault and get some money back as in my eyes it's a premature failure!
This is what it did to the belt (rubbing against tensioner spring) the new belt is against it for comparison

That sounds about right man, thanks for the advice. Will be taking it to a garage to sort out. Any idea of how much I should be paying a mechanic to fix this?

Check that your bottom pulley hasn't fallen apart as that's the same noise I had when the bottom pulley had fallen apart a it has rubber in the middle

this happened to my 182 (bout 78k), was power steering pump will see if i can dig out receipt from Renault specialists here if you want a price to compare?

Yeah, that would be great if you could mate. I've checked the power steering fluid, that seems fine. Could it still be the pump? I'm not very clued up on engine parts.

It's not the belt itself, it's the tensioner causing the belt to go slack, with the engine running there's isn't enough resistance for it to slip.
Once you turn the wheels on full lock you are putting maximum load on the PAS pump, that pulley will have more resistance and the belt will slip as its not tight enough.

Lol couldn't find my receipt but had 3jobs on the car by the same company (water pump, dephaser/timing, and pas pump). Got paperwork for 2 of them, so through process of elimination of online banking, looks like I paid £440 - unfortunately don't know what was parts and what was labour.

All my fluids and levels were fine, incl power steering fluid, but after popping the bonnet and going full lock with the technician/mechanic looking under he seen the pump sticking and belt slipping round it, I'm not an expert on mechanics but think it was something to do with pulley mechanism on pump - if this has one? lol

I think this may have been because the CV boot has broke. Just took my car in for the MOT and it failed and needs 2 new CV boots. Do you think this could have been the cause of the noise? The noise started to happen when just turning the engine on for a second or two recently as well.
