squeeky grinding sound at 4100 rpm......

doesnt matter what gear always happens at exactly the same rpm. Does anything significant happen around this point?

When is the cam thingy changed?

Think the timing is advanced around ~5krpm I think I remember reading 5.5krpm somewhere.

aux belt was changed around 8k ago.

Also get a tappy sound from top of engine right near the oil cap, gets louder when i remove this.

Its nothting to do with cams at 4kisbh the engine comes on cam in that the cams suddenmly becomes more effcinet cam advanace it at very low rpm and dies at high rpm 1.6k and 6k or so.
