Squidgy Willy 3

  Polo GTi

What am I gonna need to do to stiffen up the whole feel on the Williams.

When I first got it had a hard feel to the handling which was good, but now it seems to have loosened up and seems squidgy and not as sure footed as it was round the bends, bit twitchy even.

Anyone got a clue on what I can do to make it feel more like a Williams again?

Cheers
Rob

Yeah think it is a b*****d to take off, not 100% sure but think the f**kin downpipe has to come off before the ARB can be removed

The steering column can also be a source of "squidge". I have to turn my wheel about 1 or 2 degrees before anything happens, which is probably due to some worn rubbers in the column.

An ex-forum user called King Stromba recommended welding a section of the column that had a rubber part in it that would degrade (dont remember which part). Ill have a search through the old threads to see if I can find anything. Im a little dubious about this as the column is meant to be collapsable as a safety feature in a front-on collision.

Also, aged tyres can take a hell of a shine off the handling. Mine are all really worn down and Im looking forward to a new set of quality rubber very soon.
