Stalling 172 tdc & idle control location ?

Ive only had my 2003 172 for a couple of weeks now & am already experiencing what seems to be a common problem . The car intermitently stalls when pulling up to junctions & in neutral etc. & has a lumpy idle around 600 rpm like its sucking air somwhere. Ive done a forum search & reckon i should give the tdc sensor & idle control valve a clean first.
Can anyone tell me where to find them, pics or a diagram would be great. Im guessing the tdc sensor is ontop of the gearbox/bell housing located under the air box ? Is the idle control valve inside the throttle body ?

The TDC sensor bolts on top of gearbox, between engine and box

Do i have to remove the airbox & hoses etc. to get to the tdc then ?

Idle control I have no idea lol on/around the TB maybe?
