Standard 172/182 - Sound Like?

Guys,

Just interested what completely standard 172 and 182's sound like out of interest?

Is it a similar roar to CTR's and Cooper S', or is it in a different league exhaust wise?

cooper s' noise is dominated by the 'charger whine....not for me tbh.

ctr's are quite quiet until vtec(and even then reletivly quiet), but always sound quite smooth

182's sound a bit more torquey sounding, throaty and gruff. more industrial than musical. lol

ctr's sound MENTAL in vtec with a different intake! you have to hear it...sounds like a cross between an e46 m3 and a power drill. lol

As I also run a Golf R32 with Milltek system, the Clio 172 sounds very quiet to me !

A few tanks of V-Power have really sorted things out though - and there is now a fairly decent gruff exhaust note that really gets going from 5k revs.

In the lower rev ranges my Cup sounds like its got an induction kit, even though the engine is standard. Once you get up over 4.5k revs, it seems like a more high pitched snarl.

Most of the Cooper S whine comes from the horrid power steering!! :S

When parking granted you can hear the electric PAS over everything but at full chat they whine like f**k from the supercharger.

Some people like the supercharger...plus post '04 Minis burble and pop a good 'un.

When i first got the 172 i first noticed an induction noise, but i got used to it after a couple of drives, it sounds pretty mundane TBH. I remember when Dansta blasted past me once in his Cup and it sounded cool though.
