What size are these supposed to be from new?

I've just had a new cat-back system fitted to pass my MOT and they've fitted a 58mm one which sounds very different to the one that used to be on there!

Different in which way? That sounds about the right bore iirc.

2" nominal bore mild steel pipework.

Thats about 53 to 54mm outside diameter.

If you have a stainless one fitted they are generally 2" outside dia if you have a direct equivalent.

Others may be 2.25" o/d [57.15mm] or 2.5" o/d [63.5mm]

Sounds like yours is 2.25" if its stainless.
