standard radio not working saying 'speech'

lately my radio has a mind of its own, it turns itself off and says 'speech' on the display, then wont turn on for a few hours or sometimes days.

any ideas?

Thats a bit odd.. I'm pretty sure 'Speech' appears on cars with the voice that warns you of not wearing your seat belts and bulbs that have blown.. But I only ever see this is my dads Laguna? saying that.. Do you have a after market handsfree connected to your radio?

no its all standard, its worked fine for the last 2 years.

Pop it out and check that the blocks are all fitted tight along with the cables that go into the blocks.. I did a little search on google and noticed that the radio has a mute for hands free and if that cable has come loose or faulty can display speech.. Failing that get a new radio

yea worth a go. part exchangeing it in for a meg 225, hope they dont mind if it dont work.

sounds like the mute is earthing out somehow,very odd there
