Standard Rattle

Hi chaps,

I can't seem to see anything on this rattle with a search, wondered if anyone has come across anything similar?

Basically, when I am slowing down, normally in second or first gear without braking I can hear a rattle from just below 2k rpm to about 1.2k. When I come to a stop it sometimes rattles slightly for a few seconds then stops.

It sounds like its coming from straight ahead when I am in the driving seat - when revving it at idle etc I cant hear anything, seems to only happen with load - sounds fine on idle too.

Check the fuel rail guard - it's aluminium and on the front of the engine. Give it a wobble to see if it's that bit. The new studs and bolts are less than £15 from Renault.

Alternator bracket can also rattle if its become loose

Cheers guys, the alternator bracket & fuel rail guard are fine. Engine cover is off and ecu bracket is secure.

The only thing I am thinking is the manifold / exhaust / cat joints (although mine has been sleeved). I just would expect the noise to come from below me rather than dead ahead...

Noticed today it does it when I push the clutch down. Then stops when I lift it (even in neutral).

Anyone ever experienced it before? Makes the car sound a bit like a diesel.
