starter motor

old clio RT seems to have a starter motor problem in that when you turn the ignition on you hear the fuel pump (i assume this is what the first noise is) and then when you try to start the car there is a nothing - starter doesnt even seem to kick in.there is a bit of a funny clicking noise but doesnt sound like the starter pinion engaging. battery is ok and fuses seem fine...any ideas??

i have the same problem on a 172 cup mate took the starter out and getting it tested tomorrow, if the starter is ok im going for the starter motor relay, ive heard the TDC (top dead center) censor is a thing to check too
