Startup issue

  2003 Clio 1.4 16v
Hi all. I have a recently bought 2003 1.4 16v Clio II, manual box, and i'm a newbie. It runs great... does need a few odds and ends, like a new clutch, and brake pads, but other than that, seems to be alright. One thing I noticed and I can't actually discern what causes it to do this: Every now and then, after I turn off the car for a few minutes, and turn it back on (like running into a store to buy something), the car will start up fine, but then the RPM will drop to almost nothing... and then slowly, it will climb back up to 600. once there, it's fine. I do not touch the throttle during this. This isn't an every-time issue either, sometimes she does this, other times she's just fine. Doesn't happen if the car is cold, like in the mornings. Only when the car is at normal temp. Any help/feedback would be appreciated.

I do drive in what would be called an aggressive manner: I like to shift around 6000, 6500, and I use the engine to slow down the car a lot more than the brakes with downshifts and all. I do blip the throttle when i do this, but can't heel n toe 1/5 times. The engine runs fine, idles smoothly, doesn't shake, nothing. Car has 85,000km on it. Was recently serviced at Renault to replace timing belt/water pump/plugs and seals. Hope this helps.
