  BLACK 182
I have had my 182 in 9 times for the same probs with exhaust (std exhaust) they fitted new silencer, back box and now im having probs from the join where they have fitted the new parts its wearing loose after about 1000 miles, took it in they bodge it up with paste resecure and away i go for another 1000 miles and still its wearing loose anyone else had same prob?

The car is only 1yr old ... it now knows its own way to the garage:mad:

Standard Clio exhausts are notorious for being c**p and not lasting long.

Best bet would be to source and aftermarket system....plenty of used ones pop up on here for good prices.

ive had a new centre section put in, but it still sound slike its blowing so going to go back and try get a full new system off them..

  C250 AMG & 172 Cup
yes ive had the same problem, was blowing from where it joins to the manifold and ratling at the back.

Got a full new system on it approx 2 months ago and its starting to happen again....

Just ordered and Orbisound though hehehe

Alan has had 2 or 3 exhausts iirc? With it bein fixed numerous other times.

Yep i'm on my 3rd on my 5.5 month old 182....(bought it brand new in december last year)....not even done 4000 miles yet..they are very weak.

mine self destructed after 5000 miles and the replacement was a bodge. It took 6 returns to the gararge before my insistance on a complete new system was carried through.

I am actually looking for an aftermarket system - anyone know offhand how much the hayward n scott system was costing?

UPDATE:

had it into another renault dealer @ sunderland only to find the mechanic @ renault durham has chopped the exhaust too short it been like a game of tennis durhams saying they havent cut it too short and sunderland saying they have whats wrong with these people? Its an exhaust it cant be too difficult.

Had a feeling it was cut too short it was sagging at the join, arent the 2 pipes supposed to fit like a sleeve ????

Im so hacked off this is 10th time its been in ......

was thinking of buying a whole system myself but just for the hell of it they can correct this one for now!

ps i am a girl with alot of patience but its wearing out very quickly:mad:

Just needed to get that off my chest!!!! Not that i feel any better!

xx

10 times that is an outrage!!!!! Surely its simple, you have a problem with your exhaust they agree to replace it, they fit the new one end of!!!......
Id get straight on the blower to Renault UK this is completely un acceptable!!!

  looking for 172 cup
yes ive had the same problem, was blowing from where it joins manifold and ratling in centre :( i gave renault 7 attempts to put it right but they never did :(

problem is sorted now tho yozzasport decat and blueflame system sounds lovly

hope you get it sorted

10 times is just plain silly, phone Renault UK and get something sorted. I'd reccomend an aftermarket exhaust as it seems this problem is going to keep coming back at you. Blueflame for value and prospeed for custom..

I'd phone renault uk.

I'd suggest going aftermarket at least it will be sorted one and for all.

I had something similar, though not that extreme with mine. I just showed them the new one which was sat in the showroom, then showed them what they had done to mine when they replaced the centre section which had failed at 8k miles. They then ordered an entirely new exhaust, which fitted correctly, well as close as they could get it, though still not as well as the original.

The one on the Trophy is on the way out and has dropped too.

The new one on the 182 only lasted another 9k before I traded the car in.

I dragged someone to garage with me and demanded a courtesy car on fri, i know the exhaust has been cut too short i had them put it up on the ramps while i was there and told them to order new exhaust  ... the parts are arriving tommorrow and meanwhile im screwing the a55 off their courtesy car, what a bunch of monkeys.

  1.6 Astra ... R.I.P. 182
yeah my exhaust is pish as ive said in the other thread. but on mine the back box sticks out to far and the centre section and cat sit to low and hang down ... b*****d when it comes to speed bumps. ive given up with it though.

Was it a one piece exhaust? or centre section and back box seperate, cos they have actually replaced both on mine?

I had mine adjusted a week ago. I was told they could drop the centre section to lift the rear, or drop the rear to lift the centre. I've just left it, it'll be dead soon and need a new one anyway.

Here's how it currently sits: Link Here's how it was when new: Link

My 182 when new: Link and after they got it right with the new one: Link

What they did originally was to cut it in the usual place to remove the old system, then they added a new centre section to replace the one which was rattling. Because they couldn't get it to fit correctly due to the way they cut it off (sounds like what's happened to yours) they replaced the entire system with a new one. I assume that came in two as that's how Renault fit them at dealerships. They only come in one piece on the car from the factory....or if you get Fred to remove it for you.

They have done the same cut out centre section and replaced with a new one and it was still rattling so they fit new back box... will let yous know what my next pile of crap i get told

My exhaust rotted through on the 172 and was replaced under warranty at renault wigan and not had any problems with it since they where pretty good and honest about it although it won't see next summer lol.
