Steath weight reduction

I thought it would be nice to start this thread to get opinions on what can be removed from my clio 172 without it looking like a track car. Where and what could be removed without passengers noticing.

I shall start with lighter wheels and going down to 15"....

Every little helps spare wheel jack wheel brace ect no heavy ice just replace standard speakers with better ones carbon fiber panels sprayed same color as car

depends how drastic you want to be.
I got the old angle grinder out and took out boot skins, door skins etc
rear wiper motor etc
im now driving the same model car standard but with the exact same wheels and sus that was on the first.
it made such a huge difference I want the old one back!

A guy on the escort owners website was trying to get 400bhp per tonne and saved alot of weight but to much weight loss can make car drive bad esp at speed windows are v v heavy get plastic ones

You could run a side exit 'zaust which would use the least amount of plumbing. Titanium is very light but costly.

Another way to save weight is to take out the glass from the side windows and rear and use perspex instead.

Yes, hence why loads of people remove it, plus all the kit add's extra weight.

Nah, turning the aircon off takes away most of the resistance as the compressor's no longer engaged. If you really want to go hard core, you can delete it, but the gain is pretty much unnoticeable.

Noise reduction valve thing that's on the end of one of the cold air feeds.
Carbon canister.

Either strip it properly or don't bother imo it's pointless. However if you insist the best savings are from lightweight bucket seats, the standard ones weigh loads.

whos got the lightest clio on here? and how was it achieved?

1) By removing half the things that you're not willing to (EVERY interior panel, carpet, piece of trim etc) because you want it to look standard,
2) Then by replacing as much of what is left with track-spec items which are usually lighter by design (lightweight bucket seat, lightened & flocked dash, lighter stainless exhaust, lighter wheels, foam filter instead of relatively heavy airbox & acoustic valve. The list goes as as you start to modify the chassis, swaged holes & removing brackets/fixtures etc)

FYI the tar minus the large bit under the roof lining weighs just over 5kg, all 172 carpets are about 12kg, but thats hardly stealth unless you wanna fit thinner carpet for some strange reason.
