Steelies for the track?

  Ph2 172 Cup
I'm keen to get a set of track specific tyres. Probably R888's although I'm open to suggestions.

But the real question is what wheels to use and what size. I'm thinking that I can pick up a set of 15" steel wheels from the scrappy for v.little cash. And there appears to be a significant cost saving in going for 15" R888s versus 16".

I'm not interested in looks when I'm on the track just performance of the tyres. If there's negligible difference then cost saving is a bonus.

A slight increase in weight and a possible effect on brake cooling is the only problem I can think of off the top of my head.

i would never ever use steels on track, they're crap with heat

try getting a steel off the hub after belting it round track

buy a set of mk1 172 alloys or get down team dynamics factory for the sale, £100 a set of 15's
