Steering Feels Really Heavy

Just got into my 172 this morning and the steering feels alot heavier then normal. Checked the fluid and the level is fine. Could the rack be on it's way out?

I'd check that first - cheapest option!

Tyre pressures are fine. The steering also feels a bit nobbly when you turn the wheels whilst stationary!
