steering problem on 1800 RSi

  RenaultSport clio 1800rsi
Hello all, I have a k-plate clio 1800RSi and the steering has a major(?) problem. the last owner has put a new rack in but the bottom of the steering shaft (the triangular bit!) has been forced into the linkage in the wrong position, along with another peice of metal! I know I need a new shaft, bearing and u.j. but would like to know how hard this job is to do?

Remove and fit new column?

Not that hard...IIRC 4 bolts to remove the old column once you get dash out of the way but even thats only a few screws from memory (column cowling and the bit next to the bonnet release). You'll need access to the column at the rack as well but if you're up on axle stands you'll be fine.

New columns are expensive though...try www.infinicar.com or matbrown for secondhand.
