steering vibration clio 1.8 16v

Hi there just joined this website.
I own a 1993 clio 1.8 16v and I have such an annoying problem with it and I hope someone out there can help me. When driving at 60 mph or above the steering wheel vibrates like crazy and it shakes my arms to bits. I've had new shocks, ball joints, track rods, wheels balanced, the rack has been checked and is fine also top mounts the only thing I haven't done is lower arm bushes but there's no noisy suspension its like new. need help cos I just can't drive fast and its ashame when uv got 140 bhp. Also got 16" wheels but that can't do it plus tracking been done. can anyone help?

I to have this problem and have had new shocks, new ball joints, checked the suspension, new bushes, recently new driveshafts. I have also had the tracking done on my car, which was out, but didnt help and tried different wheels and still no luck.

Myn tends to do it around the 60 mark, but will have the odd occasion when i dont get it at all......Mines a 1.2 Clio.......and has been doing it since February!!!!!!

Any suggestions to this topic would be grateful by me to! lol

I have had this problem with mine also. I then fitted a new wheel bearing as the old one was going - and the vibration stopped. The vibration has now returned - but the wheel bearing is going again so I am certain that with mine it is totally related to the wheel bearing. I am having to replace the hub on my clio as it is the cause of my wheel bearings going constantly and hopefully I will not have this problem anymore once this is replace.

On mine it makes what is like a very loud tyre noise - if you go up to about 50mph and dip the clutch it sounds like the tyres are making a lot of noise as they roll along the road. It's kind of hard to describe TBH. If they have gone you can check by checking the wheels for any sort of play if you rock them.

Thanks everyone for replying, I have found out problem, one front wheel is badly distorted so that must be prob! You'd think kwik fit would see that when balancing wheels! Anyone got some decent 17s for sale?

If you haven't checked the CV joints on the driveshafts do so now, if you push the shaft up by the joint there shoudln't be any movement, if there is the joint has gone
