Steering Wheel/Gear Stick Lock

cDc

Can anyone recommend a device that will be a good fit for my clio either steering wheel or gearstick type roughly how much and where from.

I used to have an autolok on my escort but it damaged the gearstick as the fitting was a bit tight - i didnt care in my escort but in my spanking new clio I am more concerned :)

many thanks

If you want the daddy of all mechanical steering lock type devices - get a Disklok. OK at £80 its expensive but it is a mutha and comes top in all of the security tests I have seen.

It completely covers the whole steering wheel. Ive got a nice silver one but you can also get them in yellow.

Try any of the larger Halfords stores or I think the web address is www.disklok.co.uk

Ive got a dislok aswell. Theyre absolute beasts which means they are a bit difficult to store (i store mine under the passenger seat) but they are really solid.

Its a bit expensive but it is generally regarded as the best mechanical deterent you can buy. Having said that £80 aint much when compared to the price of your car, plus most insurers accept it as a decent form of security and as such give a small discount!!!

Yeah I was considering the disklok. It looks expensive at first compared to others but its not something worth skimping on. I agree 80 quid is not a lot compared to the value of the car especially when it last years as well.

ppl who have one, Is it fairly easy to fit and remove and does it scratch the steering wheel at all?

by the way the website is www.disklokuk.com - i think I will go down to Halfords though and have a good look at whats available first before I make my choice.

It seems a bit clumsy to fit at first but you soon get used to it. The only thing you have to watch is the locking bar which you have to lift up to open it. This can sometimes tap the windscreen but it doesnt damage it. I havent noticed any damage to the steering wheel either, there are some small pads on the inside to prevent it scuffing the wheel.

Ive got an autolock 2000 which its real good too (covers half the wheel) - think it came out before the disklock and it used to be top. Had mine on my pug and now my clio. Only wish mine was silver and not yellow but it does stand out - looks pretty good with my new cliosport.net sticker on it now. Bit of a tight fit.
Also probably a little easier to store.
Think they are about £50 and I prefer them to the disklock as I think that itll be difficult to get on and off and to store.

Whatever you get, make sure its a good brand and not a cheapy (and that it will fit the car!)

i got my disclock from costco for a bargain £47 including vat, they only have yellow though (but for 1/2 price whos complaining)

only thing is you have to be a member (or know some one who is)
