steering wheel is squint

my steering wheel is angled to the right when the car drives straight. can i fix this by just unscrewing it and placing it back on correctly?

im scared ill feck up the steering.

mine too. you never quite get used to it.

I am gonna speak to renault then get all the wheels aligned

You can't adjust it on a mk2 by taking the wheel off. I had my alignment done which cured it. if you remove the wheel off the toothed bar of the rack has a pattern so you can only put the wheel on it a fixed position.

You can lift the steering column out of the rack at the t junction behind the bulk head and line it up correctly but its easier getting the steering laser tracked

yeah its the wheel alignment. you should never need to take your steeringwheel off to straighten it just needs wheel alignment>....

Are normal tyre garages capable of this? or does it need to be someone a bit more specialist?

Yeh most places that do laser tracking. Cost me 20 quid.
