steering wheel shaking?

  a low one
fitted 15mm hubcentric spacers to my car lastnight. all wheel bolts are tight

but when driving today at anything over about 35mph, the steering wheel starts to wobble/shake

any ideas whats causing this or how to fix it?

Thanks

what do you mean rims jammed or not calibrated mate?

i got a garage near me tonight to tighten the bolts for me so im guessing there tight enough...

all wheels are balanced and were fine up untill last night. and no i havnt hit any pot holes which could have caused any damage mate

what would cause the wheel to shake though? and i cant run the car without the spacers so they have to stay on.

Why did you get a garage to do them up tight :-S They could be loose or over tightened.

Torque wrench, make sure they're all tight to the torque that is required, spacer onto hub and then wheels onto spacer, and see if it's doing it after that.

i only have a standard wheel wrench at home so thought it could be due to loose bolts so asked them to nip them up for me.

and the spacers are the type with a longer bolt through into the hub

If you want a job done properly .. do it yourself ;-)

Buy a torque wrench, and a 17/19mm socket (whichever fits your car).

Torque wrenches are awesome man-tools !

over tight wheel nuts wont cause the shaking though will it? as long as they are nipped up tight i wouldnt worry bout that, if the only difference is the spacers then as said must be that

so you dont recon its anything to worry about? im tempted to get the wheels re balanced just to make double sure!

lol no i meant the wheel nut torque wasnt something to worry about, id get the balance checked as its easy and cheap, defo sounds sensible, other than that id ask a garage i guess :S

If you're wheels were balanced and fine before the spacers, they'll still be fine. One thing has changed (the spacers), logical that they are the issue.

i know they must be the issues but i dont see what would cause it as all bolts are tight on them so couldnt see what would cause any wobble?
