steering wheel swap

Hi all, I am somewhat new to this forum, but have a question in regard to the steering wheel on my car. (I believe you refer to it as a 172, "renaultsport clio 2 litre 2002 model). The problem is i have a perished right hand side grip "the rubber section only" (i understand there may be others with the same problem. My question is does anyone know or has anyone changed the same steering wheel to a newer Renaultsport 197 model steering wheel. Can it be done, and if so, what are the modification required???
If anyone is able to shed any light on this it would be appreciated.

The melting rubber is a common fault mate :dapprove:

Switching for a 197 wheel has cropped up before, but as far as i'm aware, no one here has tried it yet. The general concensus was that it probably wouldn't be completely compatable (airbag connectors etc).
