stereo no worky

When i first got the car the stereo would only work with the arial plugged in. as an earth!

then my last stereo started to cut out sometimes. after the ignition had been off for a few hours it would come back on, with all the settings reset!

got the the point where it did it all the time, and it never worked. anyway tried it in my mates and was fine.

tried fitting standard stereo, and also a pioneer one iv got and fek all! no power at all, even with a power lead goin straight to the battery for the pioneer one.

any ideas? the fuse is fine, and all the plugs are as normal when i got the car. im guessing a sh*t earth maybe??

could also be related to no earth on my speedo cable, was told this was behind the stereo somewhere, although not had chance to look!

Try putting a completly seperate earth on it and see what happens.

would this go from the earth wire on the connector into the back of the stereo to a good earth point somewhere in the car????

Just try connecting an earth to anywhere just to see if it works.

I would guess that it is your existing earth that is the fault.
