Sticking Handbrake

I know a few peopel have reported this but has anyone found the cause? Past few mornings I've reversed out of the garage the handbrake has been stuck on.

does it lock on or just stick for a moment, if its the latter its to be expected in this weather

Had the same problem on my new 172 , sticking handbrake when parked overnight but released itself when i drove off , lasted a couple of months then went right on its own . I guess its just the back brakes being new and a bit stiff !
