still clunking after engine mount change

  Titanium 182

Hi

Had the engine mount replaced last week and on a trip to Hastings today the clunking when coasting has started coming from the offside front wheel again.

Any ideas? its a 182 with the cup packs if that makes any difference.

describe it more.

Does it clunk randomly when coasting, over bumps, as you just accelerate or brake? etc etc.

Could simply be a worn joint, top mount, bushes etc

I replaced my bushes recently (with Powerflex bushes), and it certainly helped, but hasnt cured it altogether.

Previously it was knocking whilst driving over bumps and turning. It still does that, but I have to be going a lot faster, and the car feels less jumpy with the new bushes, so still worth the money.

cheers Ben

Its very random, not done it for the 1st week then just today. Seems to be when mostly coasting over hump in the road but not always.

Sometimes feels like it could be happening additionally in these situations when I brake.

The sound is a knock / clunk, doesnt sound like metal but as if something was able to move fairly freely up and down in certain situations.

This never used to happen but noticed it when I had a leaking front shock replaced (tha car is only on 6k by the way), could it possibly be another faulty shock? Ive also heard something about a bracket under the battery? Exhaust mounts?

Thanks
Neil

going back to renault on Friday for 4k exhaust rattle and split headlamp washers so Ill get them to recheck.

Not too keen on letting them have it for long though as the last two times my local branch had it it came back with a scratch, a dent and 80 miles on the clock, when I showed the manager he just shrugged his shoulders. I walked away as I lost my rag but the missus threatened to lay him out (protective!) so Im trying Driveline in ashford now who seem very good.

if it was my car theyd scratched, dented & done 80 miles in, i would, have gone mad at them !
for a manager to shrug his shoulders is a total joke - what a knob.

id grass them up tbh.
I cant stand t*ssers like that !!
