meriva vxr! really ;-)
I got all excited yesterday about going to pick the meriva up, even managed to get up at 9am despite being out til 3am! Had a really good if not boring drive down the m4 and got to the dealers just after midday. Saw the car out on the forecourt and parked the clio next to it - i was surprised how close the 2 colours are in real life!
Did the usual check the vehicle, found some minor scratches to the front bumper (looked like it had caught a bush or something to me) and also a bit of speed bump/kerb to the underside of the bumper - again a bit annoying but i appreciate it isn't brand new so got to expect some slight blemishes, pointed out the scratches and warren the salesman apologised and said they should have been polished out and he'd get onto it - i think great - then i went to the back and noticed quite a few small white flecks on the back, almost looked like small stone chips you'd pick up on the front but it was on the back - previous owner a reverse high speed driving specialist? - again pointed out and they added to the list of things to polish out.
Moved on to the inside and this was very good - steering wheel for some reason wasn't the vxr one but warren explained they have ordered a replacement for me to go with the vxr pedals he also said he'd get - loved the seats and then on the rear middle bit i notice what looks like a load of cat scratches which on closer inspection find about a 2cm split all the way through the leather
Point this out to warren who completely apologises - something i appreciated as i was getting all ready for the this is not normal wear and tear and the though this might not be my next car now! I can appreciate he has been really let down by whoever valeted the car ready for collection. Looked at our options and agreed on me driving the clio back to southampton - him getting the leather repaired/replaced and the paintwork properly polished and then bringing the car to me on a trailer and taking the clio back - he will also ensure the meriva has a full tank of fuel as way of apologising. Hopefully the pedals and wheel will get their in time to so he can fit them as well.
So all in i'm happy if not a little disappointed not to have it by now! I can understand problems arising and it's how they are dealt with that matters to me and i think they are being v.good so i'm happy - he didn't even bother going over the clio and has said he's more than happy to take my word on its condition!
Anyway few more days of being a clio owner in the bargain and i drove back cross country to avoid the boring motorway drive back! Got the same post up with some pics of the clio and the meriva here http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=13674
