Stopping the standard 172 exhaust falling off

Before I brought my 172 the previous owner had a new Renault exhaust fitted . I want this to last but its already started to rust badly at the joins. Is there anything you can put on them to protect or coat them with to prevent them falling apart?

Best idea take it to a garage and ask them to look at it and wel the extra bracket it should have on the rear silencer.

There rust protection stuff you can use but surface rust is fine the problem is that they fail as there to much load on the rear box to pipe joint another bracket stops the extra loads on it and it won't fail.
