strange engine whistle?

  172 ph1
right...since about 10 mile from home on sunday coming back from silverstone obviously totally warmed up etc the car started making a whistle type noise when accelerating hard! so first time since then ive just drove it earlier, warmed it up and gave it some beans same noise again then it didnt do it as loud again...cant really explain the noise any better than a whistle but i have noticed unless its just me the car seems to pull alot better in every gear??????? my brother explained it to sound either turbo'd or supercharged lol?

cheers

Your engine is about to blow up! Na just kidding could be the air intake pipe has a small hole in it making a whistling sound or could be a little blow in your exhaust causing it to whistle, but most likely to be your air intake pipe. If it feels better through the gears it could be sucking in more air which is making the engine run abit better like a k&n would do. Correct me if i'm wrong i'm just guessing here lol, good luck with find the problem though ;)

If you do that ^ you will still need to get a new manifold > Cat fitting kit from renault, as that seems to be the most common fault that causes the whistle

No. If its your exhaust you might be a little down on power / fuel consumtion may be slightly up, but i didnt really notice much difference after replacing the gasket.
