Stripped out and spare wheel gone...nealy crashed!!...

  Clio 1.8 8v RSi
As above, iv stripped out my RSi and removed the spare wheel, but ever since iv noticed that even on corners my dad can take at 50 in a volvo that my RSi is sliding uncontrolably....is it to do with not enough weight in the back?

My car is lowered 40mm all round on some sort of springs...

Any help would be great.

Thanks, Sam

i've been experiancing similar, yet to try the lower tyre pressures though think its 30 all round at the mo

mines been doing the same since i dopped my spare wheel off the bottom an took my back seats out. Iv recently put my spare tyres on aswel and iv spun 180 about 6 or 7 times going round corners and roundabout. The grip is shocking.

Erm, apart from lowering rear pressure, to spin 180 sounds like you need to slow down a bit and concentrate on your driving before you kill someone.

It will be poor cornering technique causing 180s fella, not less weight in the rear. Sounds like you're lifting off the gas/ braking during the corner?

Tbh mate it happened tonight when i was doing about 10mph round a roundabout (maybe not 10 but normal speed - i tend to look at the road going round a roundabout and not the speedo) but anyway. With my alloys which are normally on the car it has never ever happened but ever since iv put the spare set on its not stopped doing it, the first few times i was going abit too quick but recently its just doing it willy nilly.

Its the rear going first, as soon as i feel the rear end slipping i try and get it back by steering the other way and many times i have managed to keep it controlled but occasionaly in the wet it just spins

illegal tyre ?? get it sorted & get some decent tyres on the car.

Well derr obviously i wud if i had the frickin money, oh and what, Falcon F1s aint good enough is that what ur sayin? If i had the money and put Pirella P1s on but i dont...

Ok, i just looked at my tyre and jesus! I may as well have slicks all round! Ill get 2 more F1s on the back as the other is some yokohomo n see what difference it makes, and as for my drivin....its pretty safe! I take corners slow...slower than my dad after writting of my first car into the back of another car!

Cheers

it may also be on top of tyre condition which is very important and technique do the clios have brake bias valves? i know my old 106gti did for those that dont know about them they measure weight over rear axel and adjust the amount of braking the rear does in accordance with the weight, reduce the weight at rear and it does less braking combined with lowering the car can upset the way this valve works and on some cars when mot is done have found rear brakes doing even less than they should meaning under heavy braking the back can float a bit and be unstable.

Lol, chill out with the attitude. You wanna drive it like a plum so be it, you wanna have an accident & kill people so be it, your conscience not mine. When you go down for it, don't blame us (well you won't be able to as you'd be inside)

I see you mention you've already written a car off, yet you have a car which isn't road legal

There is no reason for your car to spin unless it's either A, not up to the job (as you've already said by having an illegal tyre) Or B, your driving like a plum.

What the hell are falcon f1's ? Never heard of them ever. Your tyres are the only thing in contact with the road, don't scrimp on them !!

Sort it out before you bin it & at worse kill someone.

Na mate, i knew id get that response from saying that, u dont actually understand how bad the grip is, i can go round a sharp corner at 50 in the dry an its spot on but go round it at 25-30 in the wet an it just spins. As soon as it starts raining now i stick to much slower speeds round corneres and roundabouts but it still does it

Yeah exactly, it aint to do with my driving just like you, and yes, corners are fine in the dry but as soon as its rained that same corner even at lower speeds like you said it just spins out!

I dont drive like a t**t!!!!!!!!

My tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1s, not Falcons!

Pmsl - you say that they are Falcons ! Turn it in. Get your car legal or don't drive it till you can pay to get it legal.

END OF.
