Strut Brace Info

  RenaultSport Clio 182 CUP
Hiya peeps

Saw quiet a few Clio 182's/172's at FCS with strut braces and now toying with the idea of getting one. Just wondered how hard they are to fit. Is it just a matter of bolting them on or does it reqire drilling etc?

Also, what strut braces would you recomend, would like a chrome or carbon one, but havent been able to find any on the net?

Cheers every one

u need to drill 4 holes (2 on each strut mount) then use either the self tapers that come with the struts or use bolts for a more secure hold.

look at demon tweeks, k-tecs websites for coloured, carbon or polished struts

ive got an omp brace which does the job nicely
:D

Da

  Less
it 'braces the struts' making for firmer handling, less body roll iirc. No expert tho so maybe wrong... ;)

If I was to use bolts, would this be an easy job or would it involve taking the suspension off to fit it properly? Knowing me, ill probly mess it up, might have to get some outside help lol

Cheers

bolts would require you getting to the inside of the strut mounts so it might require you to drop the struts so you could get a hand in there
at the moment my strut brace is held with self tapers! for the usage my car gets i feel that this is satisfactory as i only do road driving and not track!
i have found that with the coilovers on , the strut really has tightened up the front end and the car feels a lot more solid when being thrown into bends :D

But surley, a few little self tappers cant provide enough strength to prevent flexing of the front suspension:S . I would have thought they would need securing with some big chunky bolts or something? What do the slef tappers actualy screw into?

Cheers:D

they go into the strut mount, bolts are better but for the mean time ive just got the tapers in. its pretty solid and i gave it a good old shake and it didnt budge.
as i said bolts or welding are better but ive found that the tapers work for me :D
