stud conversions....

if the price of tyres doesn't rape my wages on the 1st I will be ordering black studs, GT50 extended polarised nuts and some spacers (to go on the front) to rid me of the b*ll ache of differing bolts, and locating the bolts when fitting wheels etc

already got a price from RareRims on here I am happy with :)

I am just wondering if people have any advice with regards to fitting and use etc as it will be my first time with a stud conversion...

other bits like how long they last, if there is anything extra I should do when fitting, anything you can think of guys?

will be very much appreciated

How much is a stud conversion? It's such a pain trying to hold your wheel and stop the spacers spinning when you're trying to screw in your wheel bolts...

from rare rims they are £1 per stud (so £16 for ours)... thats for black studs, I don't know if other colours are more etc

the nuts you will need are £1 each (also in black)

or polarised are £30 for a set of tuners and £40 for a set of GT50 extended ones (polarised)

so for basic black set of studs and nuts £32 for both sets (not sure if that includes postage though...)

or if you are gunna be a baller like me the total is £56 (not counting spacers for the front) ;)

Bonxy made a guide for stud conversions on here iirc. Search, there's plenty of info around.

Cheers dude, and I'll look it up, also I'm luckily not a total r****d when it comes to fitting/torqueing wheels etc, though I will loctite them in :)

And what you mean they are soft mate? You had the polarised ones? (I guess they are the same metal, but I dont know if the polarising affects durability on the outside)

Very cheap if your not bothered about quality >>> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-C...m_Nuts_ET&fits=Model:Clio&hash=item41562f745f

There is also BMW stud conversion (same size as Clios): http://www.apexraceparts.com/75mm-BMW-Stud-Conversionbr4-Lug-Kit_p_116.html

Although these ^^^, like the Pure-motorsport ones, wouldn't be right for your car as you have 16mm spacers. You will need some 80mm studs. I believe one of the track teams on here use some from Demon Tweeks: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/wheel-nuts-bolts. These will be better for you as you can select the length you require

No, but have heard nothing but good feedback with the Pure Motorsport kit.

+1, not heard a bad thing about them. Apparently they are easier to fit too

edit: Done some research. It is burpspeed that use the Demon Tweek studs. These: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motor...sories/a-i-tech-double-thread-conversion-stud, although they don't come in 80mm. They are like the PM ones but don't have the allen key head (hence PM studs are easier to fit).

Maybe try these, if you end up deciding to get some: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/wheel-tyre-accessories/grayston-conversion-stud. Thread is M12 x 1.5 - 75mm are listed as good for 12mm spacers so 80mm will fit fine with 16mm spacers. P.s - Sorry for hijacking

Thanks for the info buddy! Lucky for me I do have 16mm spacers all round.

And that's a good point. How do you actually tighten the studs if they don't have an allen key head, without destroying the thread?

its cool, pretty much 90 percent of the info i was after is sorted :) just need to speak to someone with experiance of rare rims set, as the studs are fine by the sounds of it, and i trust the spacers I would be getting from them, just want a bit more info on the polarised nuts now, as someone said above they are a bit soft?

this... ;)

anyone had experiance with the rare rims polarised GT50 extended nuts? fully prepared to trust them same as before, but the post mentioning them being soft has left a little niggle there as to whether they will look good after a tyre change...

They are a parallel thread anyway, so they are not that hard to put in. So no, you don't destroy the threads.

Think about it.

right they have been ordered and should all be here monday ;) will update my progress thread once they are fitted and write a little note on the 'softness' of the nuts etc

holding out big hopes for them tbh

received and fitted :)

very impressed tbh

il just leave these pics here....
