Stupid mate and his stupid looking car

Just had a small almost heated disscusion with my mate in the pub about how my 182 is better than his Fiesta ST, he thinks his ST is faster in a straight line and round the bends, I think different. The fool is blind to that stupid blue oval, fords are all he's ever owned and thinks the ST would piss all about my 182. Anyone had any sprints againts these ugly little cars and how did it turn out? Cause I'm thinking I'd be leaving him standing but I've not been in his yet so don't really know how quick it really is?

Just as I thought, and my 182 doesn't rattle (yet) cause although it's a 55 plate she's only done 9k, as for the interior I think I prefer mine to his.

the sts are only 150bhps IIRC. and are 130bhp/ton

clios are 160bhp/ton.. plus

so ... what u think.

My best mate owns a Fiesta ST.

Its closer than you think but my Trophy's faster.

ultimate grunt/straight line obviously the 182 would be slightly quicker but on normal roads there would be no mullering going on. They are basically similar cars.

ive raced 2 and managed to keep up very easily with one and i left the other no competition really the focus st is a better rival

fiesta st was genuinely the most uncomfortable car I've ever driven. I'm 6 foot 3 and vouldn't get comfy, the drive was poor compared to anything else I've ever driven and the engine didn't sound anything special.

Clio 182 0-60 = 6.6.

where did you get 6.6 from? From anything I've ever read or seen it's between 6.9 and 7.2secs.

I had a play with one, they are nippy, but late into third gear the ST starts becoming a distant memory. By 4th its all over! Nice little cars though but so bored of seeing them as I work around the Dagenham area.

Every chav and his mate has one, lol! The looks they give out as well when they see me in the 182 is just a joke as well. Good thing I just ignore them and let them race off. So many around there with light to med front damage driving about.

dont waste your time playing with fiestas they're no match for the clio 182.

take on the big boys instead i had a play against a golf r32 (older shape) safe to say he wasn't very impressed when a red clio went around him on the outside of him on a big roundabout, his tyres were squeeling for grip wheras my sach dampers made sure mine stuck nicely

where did you get these figures from?

My mate only managed an average of 6.9 dead when he timed himself on private land (he used proper race timing equipment - satellite based).

Most mags who have actually tested them say 6.5. Autocar said 6.3. My Gtech said 6.41.

No matter. They are quicker than a Fiesta ST but you won't be owning one.

0 to 60 times are pointless on the road as you are normally allready doing about 50 when you start to race each other.
its more about throtle balance and braking on the bends that judge your car and how well you can drive it.
before my evo 5 i had a nissan sunny gtir with 300 bhp very quick in a straight line beat most cars, i raced a guy in a 172 cup and he really new his car well a pissed me in the b roads as my car didnt handle well and i only had it 2 weeks and didnt know my own car that well just goes to show not the car but the driver.

In a straight line there wont be that much in it. To pull away heavily from a car takes significantly for power and torque, and what few people realise is that although their car maybe quicker to 60/100 in a second or so, is that this may only equate to a few car lengths, so dont expect to pull 50yards on him to 100 otherwise you will be bitterly disapointed.
