Stupid question regarding machine polisher

  106 GTi
Not enough to power to actually polish with, it will just bog down if you try and polish with it. Only real use is to remove wax to be honest.

Autoglym Tar Remover is a good call before polishing.

Sealants depend on what polish your using first, of the shelf Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection after Super Resin Polish is your best bet.

I have got some autoglym ultra deep shine polish so will be using that. I was looking at using an autoglym sealer of some form but am a complete noob at detailing.

Is there a reasonable machine polisher available for sub £50?

The UDS is designed to be used as a one step standalone product, even the local Autoglym rep told me not to try and use the Extra Gloss over it as it will not bond to it. I will be honest it is one of the worst products I have ever used, used mine about twice !

For that money you will be able to get one of the Rotary polishers they sell on ebay, but I would recommend getting some scrap panels to practice one. Plus once you add the polishes you will need it will be over the 50 quid budget.

ahh, ok dont use the polish again then lol, I had an attempt on the bonnet but it was still not overly impressive on the finish and far from smooth. I think that £50 is my budget for a polisher. I'm willing to spend whatever I need on polish.

Sorry if you've answered this millions of times, what polish would you recommend Rich? The above combinations by autoglym or maybe something else?

Polishes wise to use by machine you would need a cutting and finishing polish, the main ones to search for on here as they have all been discussed a fair bit are Menzerna Intensive Polish and Final Finish, the Poorboys SSR range or Megauiars #83 and #80. None will be suitable for the Halfords machine.

Of the shelf AG SRP and EGP are a good combo, and then add a wax on top.

Personally these days I use the SRP, topped with Jeffs Acyrlic Sealant as it is so much quicker and easier than EGP - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=303437

Then add a decent wax over it. Though on my Clio I don't bother with a sealant at all just wax.

ok, Cheers for all the help Rich. I'll go and get the AG products tomorrow as I've set that as my detailing day lol.
